In an effort to decrease the amount of waste that is sent to landfills, the ES3 Sanitation Team has worked with Green ‘N Grow™ to turn packaged food waste into a compost material that looks and acts similar to topsoil. ES3 is the first food warehouse in the United States to pro-actively, and successfully, compost its packaged food waste. ES3 and Green ‘N Grow™ are currently composting food packaged in plastic, aluminium, tin cans, cardboard and paper. ES3 and Green ‘N Grow™ plan to look into composting other types of packaging and products that are currently inventoried in ES3’s warehouse.
